The British Embassy Jakarta, through the UK Digital Access Programme and in collaboration with local partner BRI Research Institute (BRIRIns), has concluded a project on empowering women MSMEs in the provinces of West Java and Lampung for capacity building on digital and financial digital literacy. This empowerment programme follows the creation of a digitalisation index of MSMEs in Indonesia. Also, during this event Digital Corners (Pojok Digital) was launched as a collective marketing platform for the women entrepreneurs to boost sales and enhance the economic prospects for the programme beneficiaries.
MSMEs play a crucial role in driving the Indonesian economy, account for 99% of business units and contribute 61% to the country’s GDP. However, MSMEs still face barriers to accessing digital and technology, which creates inequality and prevents scale ups and market competition.
